BMW posts Q1 2003 sales results in Russia

BMW sales in Russia amounted to 685 automobiles in the first quarter of 2003, which was 12 percent lower than in the corresponding period of 2002, the press service of the Moscow office of the company reported. The best seller was the BMW 5 series with 217 sold cars; some 207 cars of the 3 series were sold over the first three months of 2003. Sales of the BMW 7 series sedan grew by more than 50 percent to 149 cars. Some 112 X5 model cars were sold in the reported period.

Despite the drop in sales, BMW Russland Trading expects a considerable gain in sales this year. They say the appearance of some new models, including the new 5 series and the BMW Z4, will promote sales.
