International Shipbuilding Conference to Take Place in St. Petersburg on October 8-10 - 4 October, 2002

The third international shipbuilding conference ISC2000 will take place in St. Petersburg between October 8 and 10. The organising committee told Rosbalt's correspondent that the event has attracted the attention of scientists, experts and businessmen from the shipbuilding and related industries, research and design institutions, teaching institutions, and the navies and public administrations of various countries.

Representatives from 18 Asian, African, European and North American countries have expressed their intention to take part. Representatives from Ghana, Greece, Iran and Turkey will be taking part for the first time. Foreign participants will include such well-known names as Det Norske Veritas, the American Bureau of Shipping, Rolls-Royce Marine Systems, Voith Schiffstechnik GmbH, Zoryamashproyekt, the German Shipbuilding research and design centre, and the Institute of Marine Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The conference will discuss achievements in the development of shipbuilding and ocean technology and will feature 180 papers. The conference is organised by the Russian State Scientific Centre, the Russian Shipbuilding Agency, the Russian Ministry of Industry, Science and Technology, and the St. Petersburg City Administration.
