Vladimir Putin signs decree on combating trafficking in illegal drugs - 25 September, 2002

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday signed a Decree on Improving the State Control of Trafficking in Illegal Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. RIA Novosti was told about it at the press service of the President of the Russian Federation.

This decree charges the Russian Interior Ministry with a number of tasks in combating the distribution of illegal drugs and psychotropic substances. These tasks include coordination of the activity of executive bodies, preparation and the submitting of reports to the President and the government, the creation of a single data bank, cooperation and exchange of information with competent agencies of foreign countries.

The decree also provides for setting up a State Committee for Combating Trafficking in Illegal Drugs and Psychotropic Substances under the auspices of the Russian Interior Ministry.
