A scuffle after rock-concert: Zhirinovsky and Co attack school

Last weekend, Russian capital, Moscow celebrated its birthday. The celebration was on a grand scale, as usual. However, provisional not comforting results of the City Day in Moscow have been already summed up: a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death and several people more were wounded in a scuffle near the metro station University on Saturday. According to different sources, from 150 to 500 people were involved in the scuffle. It is supposed, the disorder was instigated by rappers and skinheads. Drunk youth was leaving the open concert ground on  the Moscow State University campus after a rock-concert. According to Gazeta.Ru, eighty people were arrested in connection with organization of the scuffle, a man suspected of the murder was among them.

On Sunday, eight people were injured in an accident at a merry-go-round at the Gorky park, three women were taken to hospitals.

Six thousand policemen secured order on the City Day in Moscow. About eight thousand people were detained for different transgressions on August 31 and September 1. It is reported, about three million people participated in the festivities.

According to Interfax, Russian Duma speaker Gennady Seleznev said today, last week he met with chairman of the All-Russian education foundation Sergey Komkov. In Komkov’s words, Duma vice-speaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky and about 20 followers attacked a Serebryany Bor-2000 school belonging to the foundation. The building of the school was captured by force. Press-service of the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office informs, criminal proceedings have been instituted against “some famous people who contrary to law captured the building owned by the foundation.”
