Maryjo Kijewski-Gimblet: Disgrace and a dishonor to the entire Nation of the US and its neighbors

This is an opinion expressed to the statements made by Michael Berglin regarding the article in the British medical journal, Lancet, volume 364, pages 637 and 725. It appears that current physicians do not take the Hippocratic Oath seriously. Since they were all part of a military command structure that not only permitted, but encouraged and orchestrated torture to a degree that it became the norm. Did Rumsfeld expect all to be complicit?

I am discouraged and disappointed by all this, because I entered the field of Medicine and Clinical Research in order to help, assist, and report any abuse that I might have seen done to a patient under my supervision. What occured at Abu Graib is not the norm, but a small percentage of doctors and medical
personnel who decided to take it upon themselves to mame, torture and kill prisoners. What I would like to see be done as soon as possible is, a full investigation with all personnel involved, discharged from their immediate duties, and strict and efficient guidelines set up so that TRUST can, again, be replaced by the very questionable and suspect tactics of the Bush regime.

This is a disgrace and a dishonor to the entire Nation of the United States and its neighbors, friends and Allies. Also, the question of apathy is a concern here, and should never be tolerated. NEVER AGAIN!

Thank you for your attention.
