Randel Metz: November election is probably the last opportunity to restore democracy

Because of complacency, the United States has been taken over by forces who are the exact opposite of the ideals that formed this country. Lulled to sleep by prozac, television, entertainment culture and gadgets, we have squandered the dreams of democratic capitalism and our rights to vote, and allowed an utterly corrupt cabal of arrogant liars to take control of the government and the media.

Bush and his corporate cronies have involved us in a contrived war that is destroying our credibility in the world community. They are dismantling our freedoms, stealing our hard-earned money, and consolidating their control of the information we receive.

The coming election in November is probably the last opportunity for the few people left in this country that vote to turn the tide and restore democracy, but unfortunately we will probably waste the chance.

The rest of the world looks on in dismay as America is taken over from the inside by a corporate, fundamentalist Calvinist dictatorship like a fast-growing cancer.

I'm only glad I'm already old and don't have so much of a future to look forward to.

Sadly, from a dying democracy
