A delegation of the State Duma (Lower House) will leave for Tajikistan Wednesday to pay a working visit. As the head of the delegation, Vice Speaker of the State Duma Vladimir Lukin said, this visit of the deputies of the Lower House is a return visit. Last year, a delegation of the Tajik parliament visited Moscow. This working visit conforms with the State Duma's schedule. According to Vladimir Lukin, the Russian parliamentarians are expected to meet the top of the Tajik parliament, its members, representatives of the Islamic forces and of all main political factions of the parliament. Plans also call to discuss joint law-making activities, in particular mutual ratification of a number of bilateral government agreements. Vladimir Lukin underscored that "the working trip of the State Duma deputies to Tajikistan is taking place in a very serious and responsible period in view of the events in Afghanistan and the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border." "We shall meet with our frontier-guards, with the headquarters of Division 201 and discuss with the frontier-guards how they live and what problems they have," said Vladimir Lukin.
