Jelalabad, a strategically important administrative centre in an eastern Afghan province, was liberated from the Taliban, Said Ibrahim Khikmat, the Ambassador of the Islamic State of Afghanistan to Tajikistan, told RIA Novosti on Wednesday. According to him, the residents revolted against the Taliban and forced them out of the city. The Northern Alliance's troops are some kilometres away from Jelalabad, the diplomat said.
