An active involvement of CIS countries in the anti-terror coalition convincingly showed the CIS ability to adequately react to changes of the international situation", said Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov when opening the session of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in Moscow on Thursday. According to him, it is precisely the CIS that has become the first international structure on the Eurasian space which long before the acts of terror in the USA on September 11 began forming the anti-terror centre. "The military operation in Afghanistan made many people of the world assess the role of mechanisms of cooperation within the CIS in a new way," Ivanov said.
