President Eduard Shevardnadze of Georgia hopes to meet Vladimir Putin Friday on the completion of the CIS summit. This was disclosed by Georgian foreign minister Irakly Menagarishvili. He repeated once again that Russian aircraft had delivered air strikes on the Pankisi Gorge. Meanwhile, the Russian side denies this accusation. According to Menagarishvili, the Russian-Georgian relations "became of a character that satisfies neither Moscow nor Tbilisi, which does not correspond to interests of none of our countries." He expressed a hope that the situation in bilateral relations will be settled. "Our presidents have something to speak of," he said.
