Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Utkir Sultanov on Monday left for Japan on a working visit to discuss the state of affairs in bilateral economic relations and the issue of investments in a number of projects. This was reported by the republican Cabinet of Ministers. Japan occupies an important place among the partners which actively support the social and economic reforms underway in Uzbekistan. Japan's investments in the Uzbek economy already amount to 1.3 billion US dollars. Only in the first nine months of this year trade between the two countries equalled 133.1 million US dollars. Japan renders aid to Uzbekistan in many spheres, in particular, in public health, education and culture. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan, the countries have been often exchanging visits. Uzbekistan receives statesmen, members of parliament, the leaders of political parties and big businessmen from Japan. A great number of Japanese firms, companies, agencies and organisations are successfully working in Tashkent.
