A staffer of the Eurocommission delegation, 49-year-old citizen of Germany Guenter Beuchel, was killed in Tbilisi under unknown circumstances, the RIA Novosti correspondent reports. As the press centre of the Interior Ministry of Germany reported on Monday, the body of Beuchel was found on Sunday night, on December 9, by neighbours in the doorway of the house in Uznadze Street in Tbilisi in which he rented a flat and lived alone. As the neighbours said, the murderer, most likely, met with Beuchel when the latter was returning home. According to the preliminary information, Beuchel's death was caused by a penetrating wound in the scull, the officials of the press centre of the Interior Ministry of Georgia noted. A criminal case has been filed. Prosecutor Ghigla Agulashvili told journalists that before the expert examination is over it is too early to speak of the way the murder was committed. According to the Rustavi-2 TV company, the wallet and jacket of the killed citizen of Germany were missing. The officials of the Eurocommission delegation in Georgia told RIA Novosti that Guenter Beuchel was one of the first staffers of the Eurocommission delegation in Georgia and worked in Tbilisi from 1993. Guenter Beuchel headed the Eurocommission mission for rendering humanitarian aid and was the head of the regional office in Tbilisi. This mission was recently closed, and Guenter Beuchel took up a job in the Eurocommission delegation in Georgia (the representation of the European Union) and was manager of the project on democracy and human rights. Guenter Beuchel's family - his wife and two children - lives in Germany.
