Russia and Australia have signed a contract on the construction of a space centre on the Christmas Island (the Indian Ocean), Yuri Koptev, the Rosaviacosmos Head, told a press conference in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports. According to him, the implementation of the project will start in two months already. New Russian space rockets Avrora (the upgraded rocket Soyuz) will be launched from the space centre on the Christmas Island, Koptev said.
