U.S. military post offices in Japan and Okinawa shut down Wednesday after two mail handlers at Naval Air Facility Atsugi reported their hands itched after touching a suspicious envelope.
Initial field tests on the envelope came back negative late Wednesday afternoon for biological and chemical agents, including anthrax, said Brian Naranjo, NAF Atsugi spokesman. A Japanese lab will run a more conclusive test on the sealed envelope,Naranjo said.
