Moscow Wants to Regulate Ukraine Conflict for Generations to Come

Moscow Seeks Generational Security Guarantees as Putin Prepares to Meet US Envoys

Russia says it wants a durable, generations-long security settlement on Ukraine as President Vladimir Putin prepares to meet US envoy Steve Witkoff on 2 December.

Moscow Emphasizes Generational Security Goals

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia is seeking a peace framework designed to secure the country’s future on a long horizon. Speaking to RIA Novosti, he stressed that the government aims to address what it views as core security threats “for many generations to come,” framing the conflict’s resolution as part of a broader strategic mission rather than a short-term political arrangement.

Kremlin Praises Trump’s Diplomatic Engagement

Peskov also underscored that Moscow appreciates the efforts of US President Donald Trump and his administration, noting that their attempts to advance negotiations have been received positively in the Kremlin. According to Peskov, Washington’s recent diplomatic activations — including the drafting of a revised peace proposal — signal a constructive approach that Russia considers important at this stage of the conflict.

Putin to Meet US Delegation Headed by Whitkoff

The Kremlin highlighted the significance of the upcoming meeting between President Putin and a senior American delegation led by special presidential representative Steve Witkoff. Scheduled for 2 December, the summit is expected to continue the intensive dialogue launched earlier this year, with both sides signaling cautious readiness to explore conditions for a long-term settlement. Russian officials described the encounter as a pivotal step in the ongoing negotiation track.
