Sky News, citing a high-ranking source, said that Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson is resigning.
“The Prime Minister spoke with the Chairman of the 1922 Committee, Sir Graham Brady. He said he would resign and a new party leader should be appointed in October.
They also noted that Johnson will make a statement to the country during today.
The BBC writes that Johnson will step down as leader of the Conservatives on July 7, but will remain prime minister until the fall.
There will be a Conservative leadership race this summer and a new prime minister will be named at the Tory convention in October.
The information is confirmed by the British television channel ITV.
