Iceland is famous for its natural wonders, starting with geysers and glaciers. The small country has recently got one more place of interest. It is a museum of a so-called “phallus science”.
Sigurdur Hjartarson, a history lecturer from one of the Universities, opened a private museum with expositions demonstrating penises of the animals living in Iceland. The museum was opened in 1997. The museum owner likes to tell the visitors the story of the collection compilation.
“I have got a bone of a hamster, it is less than two millimeters. Different kinds of animals have penises of different forms, that seems to be really very interesting,” says the collector. The exposition consists of penises of skunk, sheep, dolphin and horses. Special attention of the exposition is paid to killer whale’s penis, that makes up 2 meters when not erected.
Visitors can find out a lot of interesting things at the museum’s exposition: some penises have bones or tendons, some have grease inside. Visitors of the museum often ask the owner why he had compiled the collection. Mr. Hjartarson says: “Someone was to have done it, why not me?” Delfi
