The completion of the operation to raise the nuclear submarine Kursk signifies not only that the promise given to relatives of its crew was kept. It is also a tribute to the memory of the men who died, said Igor Dygalo, Assistant to the Russian Navy Commander in Chief, Tuesday. According to Mr. Dygalo, dozens of letters from civic organization and leading Russian and foreign media outlets come to the main offices of the Russian Navy and the Northern Fleet. All the letters express admiration with courage of the contributors to the lifting operation. For the first time in world history, Mr. Dygalo said, such an unprecedentedly unique and complicated operation was carried out.
