The funeral service of Alexander Neustroyev, who died on board the Kursk nuclear submarine, took place in the village of Loskutovo in the Tomsk region (western Siberia) on Monday. The submariner's body was brought from Roslyakovo, in the Murmansk region, where they are working to clear obstructions from the sub's hull and searching for the sailor's bodies. Alexander Neustroyev's mother together with his younger brother and sister live in Loskutovo. The region's governor, Viktor Kress came to pay his respects to the dead submariner. The 22 year old Neustroyev was a senior petty officer on contractual service. At the moment of the accident he and 10 of his colleagues were in the fifth compartment where the nuclear reactor was located.
