Searches for Mi-6 helicopter that had gone missing Wednesday have been recommenced at 5:00 a.m. local time (1:00 a.m. Moscow time) today. Two helicopters are involved in the operation as of now.
PRAVDA.Ru was told at the headquarters of the rescue operation, frontier guards searched the area for the helicopter till 2:00 a.m. local time (it is a polar day in the Trans-polar region now). However, weather conditions are still unfavorable for a successful realization of the operation. It is very difficult to seek the helicopter when weather changes every hour. Haze hampers the searching operation now, the visibility is low.
Nevertheless, an AN-26 plane with special equipment on board is ready to join the searches. As soon as weather changes for the better, the plane will take off. All crew members and passengers of the missing helicopter are citizens of Norilsk and Talnakh. A special telephone line was opened in Norilsk for people to get information of the rescue operation. PRAVDA.Ru follows the searches, details of the operation to be reported
