Klebanov On Reforms In Russian Defence And Related Industries

Vice-Premier, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Ilya Klebanov appeared Friday at a Moscow session of the central federal district council to name, among other priority reforms, modernization of the military-industrial complex. He defined the coming reform, to last for several years, as the formation of industrial holdings on the basis of munitions works. "It will be a painstaking process as already now reforms in the military industry are evoking much speculation and uneasiness as the creation of new entities inevitably infringe on someone's interests," he said. The vice-premier indicated that modernization began with the establishment of the Sukhoi aircraft corporation after two years of design work. Close to completion are several other documents, including an order on setting up an anti-air defence corporation, with contribution from all designers and manufacturers of our anti-air defence system.
