President of Russia Vladimir Putin sets the Interior Ministry the task of, jointly with other departments, working out a strategy of solving problems related to illegal migration. Speaking on Tuesday at an enlarged meeting of the Board of the Ministry of the Interior, the president of Russia noted that control of the migration processes and stemming of illegal migration were a priority with the Interior Ministry's work. Putin stated that a delay in resolving the above-mentioned problem "will inevitably lead to crime growth and an escalation of social tension both in separate regions and in the country as a whole". In this connection the president highlighted the connection "between successful work in this direction and socio-economic problems." "Efficient control of the migration processes and formation of a civilised market by foreign workforce could long ago become a substantial stimulus of the country's economic development," Putin stated.
