Henry Kissinger Still Alive

Politics is a dirty game, yet it's a game worth playing

The current resident in the Oval Office now has rather odious advisers. Elliot Abrams, a former State Department official, was appointed Condoleezza Rice’s aide. Abrams was implicated in the Iran-Contras scandal in the 1980s. Now, Elliot Abrams is back and in charge of African and Middle Eastern issues.

The national Security adviser of the American president stated that Abrams would be in charge of Arab and Israeli relations as well as the efforts to achieve peace in the region. Elliot Abrams backed the armed struggle of Nicaraguan counterrevolutionaries against the Sandy government during 1980-1988, during Ronald Reagan’s administration. In 1991, Abrams was found guilty of concealing information from the US Congress in 1986 pertaining to secret deliveries of weapons to Nicaragua. However, in 1992, President George Bush I withdrew the conviction of Elliot Abrams.

Incumbent President George Bush II appointed Henry Kissinger as his adviser. Henry Kissinger (US Secretary of State during 1973-1977) has a lot of skeletons in his closet. As a matter of fact, there is nothing surprising, really, because politics is a dirty thing to deal with. Yet, not all of Kissinger’s secrets have been made public. Will they ever become public?

Spanish justice clutched at Henry Kissinger in the beginning of the current year. Spanish justice was represented by judge Baltasar Garzon, who is known for his attempts to jail Chilean leader Augusto Pinochet.

Garzon was in charge of the pending case concerning Operation Condor, in connection with the investigation of Pinochet’s crimes. The investigation was about the close cooperation between military dictatorships of Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, and other countries of Latin America, who conducted terrorist acts against their political adversaries and otherwise-minded people.

Many people died as a result of those acts of terrorism, including internationally known politicians. Garzon categorized those actions as international terrorism. It is clear from the materials of the investigation that the CIA was involved in international terrorism within the scope of Operation Condor. The activities of the Central Intelligence Agency were authorized by Kissinger. This fact is also confirmed by documents that have been recently removed from secret archive lists of American special services.

The Spanish judge failed to bring Henry Kissinger into criminal account for his crimes. America does not squander such people: the nation is thankful to Kissinger for the cessation of the Vietnamese massacre.
