According to Russian Vice-Premier Valentina Matvienko, the government isn’t going to hold a special party dedicated President Vladimir Putin’s 50th birthday. She says that the president will only get a bunch of flowers.
Isn’t this shameful for Russia? Even those enterprises here in Russia where arrears of wages are customary, usually organize special birthday parties, and workers always receive some presents. Flowers are also traditional for such occasions. Certainly, President Putin is to receive some unusual and even exotic flowers. However, doesn’t Doesn’t it seem unfair that the president is working so hard to solve Russia’s problems, spends little time at home, and often travels to different countries, but will receive no presents? It is strange that the government won’t even give the guy any presents. It’s very likely that US President Bush, British Prime Minister Blai, and German Chancellor Schroeder will send the Russia president birthday presents, but the Russian government won’t. Suddenly, an insane idea comes to mind: let’s get together and congratulate the president on his 50th birthday. You can mail your congratulations to the president at [email protected]. We promise to collect them and send to the president. We think he will be pleased to read the congratulations after receiving the already declared bunch of flowers from the government.
