Сonstruction of Elegesе-Kuragino-Kyzyl railway to start in Tuva

During the eighteenth Petersburg International Economic Forum, the project of the railway line "Elegest-Kuragino-Kyzyl" was presented. "The project of the railway can be one of the important directions of Russia's breakthrough to the East. The positioning of the Tuva Republic at large public venues is of paramount importance," said the head of Tuva.

"I think that cooperation with China is one of the most important areas of strategic development of Russia. This cooperation is multifaceted. Also, it touches upon the development of railways, infrastructure of relationships. The construction of this railway is a way to reach out to Urumqi, the western region of China. This project is very important for both Russia and China. It appears that large investments are going to be made in the coming years in this region, - Boris Shmelev, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, the head of the Center for Political Studies at the Institute of Economics, the head of the Department for International Relations of the  Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry told Pravda.Ru. - Of course, it will be possible to deliver goods there, including Russian goods, and one will have to build a railway for that to solve many problems of supplies. At the same time, the industrial cluster, which will be created in that region of China, will be designed for considerable exports of products that will be manufactured there. Via the Trans-Siberian Railway, China will be able to export these products not only to Russia, but also to other CIS countries and Europe. From this point of view, this project is profitable for both Russia and China."

"In general, China needs this railway more than Russia does, Mikhail Krylov, the director of the analytical department of the investment company United Traders told Pravda.Ru. - In China, the overland delivery of goods from the nearest port on the east coast to these areas of China, may be 1000 km longer than from Russia via the seaside coast. Accordingly, in this situation, the seaside coast of Russia, in the Far East, will be used as a way to deliver goods to the north-eastern provinces of China."

The implementation of the project "The Construction of Tuvan Railway to the  Trans-Siberian Railway" is to begin this year.
