Large channel of drugs deliveries from Iran to Japan via Russia closed

A large channel of drugs deliveries from Iran to Japan has been closed due to a series of FSB, customs services and police joint operations in the Primorye Territory, the Russian Far East. RIA Novosti was told on Wednesday in the regional FSB department that the batches of drugs were delivered from Iran to Japan by transit via Azerbaijan and the Russian ports in the Pacific.

Last March, drug courier Vladimir Kramar, a crew member of a Russian cargo vessel, was arrested in Japan with the assistance of the Russian secret services. He delivered to Japan 9.7 kg of hashish and opium and was sentenced by the Japanese court to 11 years of imprisonment.

On August 12, more than 15 kg of hashish were discovered in the hold's specially equipped caches on board of another Russian ship, which was only being prepared for going to Japan. A member of the crew and a woman passenger, who transported the drug, were arrested. During the search at the place of residence of one of them more than 15 kg of hashish prepared for transportation abroad were found and confiscated.

And on August 13, a Russian citizen of the Azeri origin, was arrested as the organiser of the drugs delivery.

The operative activity is under way in collaboration with power structures, including those of Azerbaijan and Japan.
