Law enforcers in the village of Chiri-Yurt in Chechnya (50 km south of Grozny) set free on Tuesday an inhabitant of one Russian regions, born in 1954, who has been kept as a slave by the residents of that village for the past 11 years. A spokesman for the provisional police press centre in Khankala (an eastern suburb of Grozny) reported on Wednesday, according to the freed man, he was fraudulently brought to Chechnya in 1990. Since that time he changed his "masters" several times. He was a slave of his last "master" for about ten years. The police arrested the man who kept the slave. A charge with "illegal retention of an individual" has been filed against the arrested man.
