Israel extends the limits of its ground operation in Lebanon

Israel ’s Security Cabinet made the decision on Tuesday to extend the limits of its ground military operation in Lebanon and rejected the proposal of a ceasefire until international forces are established on Lebanese territory. Key ministers of the Israeli government resolved that after a 48-hour suspension, air strikes over Lebanese territory would be resumed in full force.

According to information from Israeli political sources, during the ground operation, the army is determined to move aside Hezbollah fighters to the Litani River, 20 kilometers to the north of the border with Israel . The appropriate decision was accepted today by the Israeli government.

In addition, the Israeli army has called up a further 15 thousand reservists. In consideration of the threat that had arisen from the Syrian side, earlier, three divisions of young soldiers were prepared in reserve, informs ITAR-TASS. Thousands of reservists were summoned to the Israeli army a few days before the decision of the Security Cabinet.

The Israeli army is currently acting in two regions of South Lebanon , advancing between villages, fighting against subdivisions of Hezbollah and leaving behind them a considerable trail of destruction.

An Israeli representative who wished to remain anonymous informed that the Cabinet has not set any time limits for the operation in Lebanon , despite the fact that the UN Security Council is expected to accept the resolution on this issue this week.

Israel began its military operation in Lebanon after Hezbollah terrorists killed three servicemen on Israeli territory on the 12th July and abducted two soldiers.
