Sexual assault in US Air Force

After a lengthily investigation, a US Air Force report states that sexual assault is more wide spread than thought.
The US Air Force, still reeling from the sex scandals at the US Air Force Academy, launched a further investigation and the final report is anything but good.

The investigators toured US Air Bases and overseas bases have concluded that there are far more cases of sexual assault than originally thought. The four month long investigation found female members of the Air Force did not report incidents fearing retaliation and reprisals from higher ups.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas also called for the force to address reports that up to two dozen women were raped in fiscal year 2002-03 at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls.

The findings are recommending institutional changes to Air Force policies and procedures, that the Air Force has lacked a formal sexual assault policy, and that existing training has been sporadic and focused more on sexual harassment rather than rape.
