Pentagon: Operation in Iraq Claimed the Lives of 117 U.S. Soldiers

The operation in Iraq has so far claimed the lives of 117 US soldiers, an official Pentagon spokesman told journalists on Sunday.

According to his words, 105 soldiers were killed in clashes with the enemy or by "friendly fire," i.e. fire from their own side, and 12 more died in various incidents.

After 7 people were liberated from captivity on Saturday, there are no more prisoners of war in Iraq, said the spokesman. He added that 4 soldiers were reported missing.
