IMF and WB Come out for Adoption by UNO of Resolution on Rehabilitation of Iraq

In the communique of the meeting of the Joint Ministerial Committee of the Board of Managers of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) on transfer of real resources to developing countries (the Development Committee) which was held in Washington on Sunday it is said that these organisations are coming out for adoption by the UN a resolution on the rehabilitation of Iraq.

The IMF and the WB are ready to play their roles in the rehabilitation of Iraq at a proper moment, the document reads.

Furthermore, the IMF and the WB intend to trace the influence of the conflict on all the states participating in these organisations, and to support those of them which might be affected by this conflict in future.

The communique mentions the importance of turning to the question of Iraq's debts, and expresses the hope that the Paris Club will participate in the settlement of the Iraqi debt as soon as possible.
