Temperature scanners to defend Russians against swine flu

Passengers arriving at Russian airports will be checked with a special device which instantly measures body temperature.

Trying to prevent the penetration of swine flu into the country, Russian authorities took measures to check passengers at the airports of Moscow with a special temperature scanner. The scanners allowing to determine body temperature remotely, are already available at the airports of Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo.

“The scanner programmed on normal body temperature immediately detects any deviation from the norm,” says Novel Genis, the chief of the press service of Sheremetyevo International Airport.

Tests showed that such scanners are very sensitive and reliable.

Untill recently, the possible presence of the swine flu infection was detected only by observation of stewardesses and responsibility of the people who are not afraid of declaring that they do not feel well.

Due to the spread of swine flu around the world Russian authorities are going to use temperature scanners widely.

Passengers arriving from the countries where cases of swine flu have already occurred will have to pass through these scanners. First of all, the scanners will be applied to the passengers from Latin America and the USA.

Similar devices are used at the airports of Europe and America, the countries where A/H1N1 virus has been confirmed. Russian citizens can undergo such an inspection in several tourist zones. It is especially important now, when lots of people are going on holidays.
