The small personal icon of a member of higher orders of Russian clergy (panagiya) contained the relics of one of the most honored saints in Russia - Nikolai Miracle-Worker.
The craftsmen of Alexandro-Nevskaya monastery will pass the relics to Tikhvin monastery.

The relics were found by restoration workers who were renovating the icon.

The icon was purchased from the a private collection and handed to Alexanro-Nevskaya monastery by some businessmen.  It was in a bad condition, and the monastery jewelers started repairing the icon.

They read the inscription on the icon that is was the gift made in 1861 by Nafanail from the town of Arkhangelsk. The craftsmen were greatly surprised to see the relics of the saint solded up in wax, inside the icon. This makes the icon priceless. It will be placed in Tikhvin monastery where it always was, and will be accessible to all believers in July.

The craftsmen of Alexandro-Nevskaya monastery believe that the icon with relics will make the residents purer and kinder.

Meanwhile, the craftsmen of Alexandro-Nevskaya monastery continue creating sacred things. Recently a group of them led by Vladislav Razumanov, completed the icon-symbol of St. Petersburg containing relics of 100 Russian saints inside.
