The youngest son of Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Arab Gaddafi, 29, and three grandchildren of the Libyan leader were killed early Saturday (30) to Sunday during a NATO air strike, which Gaddafi himself barely escaped, announced a spokesman for the Libyan government.

"The house of Saif al-Gaddafi Muammar Arab (...), the youngest son of Muammar Gaddafi, was attacked with powerful means. The leader and his wife were at home with friends and relatives and are safe and sound" said the government spokesman, Ibrahim Mussa, during a press conference.

"The attack caused the death as a martyr of Saif al-Arab (...) and three grandsons of the leader," added the spokesman.

According to the spokesman, Col. Moammar Kadhafi is well. He was not hurt. His wife also is doing well and was not injured, but other people were, he said.

"It was an operation that was aimed directly to assassinate the leader of this country," he accused. The spokesman had accompanied the press to a bombed house in Tripoli. By the scale of destruction, it seemed unlikely that there were any survivors.

On Saturday night, three explosions were heard in Tripoli from the sector of Bab al-Aziziya, which houses the complex belonging to Gaddafi after a bombing by NATO aircraft.

In Benghazi, the stronghold of the terrorist rebels financed and armed by the imperialist powers, they were celebrating by firing guns in the air during the night from Saturday to Sunday after the announcement of the death of Saif al-Arab, according to information from AFP.

"They are very happy that Gadhafi lost his son in an air strike and are throwing a 'celebration' of his death," said the military spokesman of the National Transitional Council (CNT political organ of the terrorist armed insurrection, backed by NATO), Colonel Ahmed Omar Bani in Benghazi.

Muammar Gaddafi had reiterated on Saturday that he would not leave power, while NATO has rejected his call for negotiations to end the conflict in Libya, which has lasted about three months.

In a first public appearance since April 9, Gaddafi reiterated he would not leave, despite the pressure and military attacks by NATO, international financial sanctions, an arms embargo and the freezing of his assets.

"NATO should abandon any hope of an exit of Muammar Qaddafi. I will not leave my country and will fight to the death," he said in a televised speech, calling the rebels "terrorists" from abroad.

"We are prepared to negotiate with France and the United States, but without conditions (...). We will not surrender, but I ask a negotiation. We can solve our problems without aggression among Libyans. They must take away their fleets and their aircraft," said Kadhafi to NATO.

Stop attacking these poor "civilians"!!!!

The Atlantic Alliance, the armed wing of the imperialist powers, rejected the appeal, repeating once again (their big lie) that it is primarily Kadhafi needs to "stop the attacks against civilians."

"NATO will maintain its operations until all attacks and threats against civilians have stopped," one official said.

In Tripoli, more than 400 representatives from tribes loyal to the government said they are prepared to go to Benghazi for a meeting with the tribes under rebel control in view of a "reconciliation."
