Medical Counter-Indications for Providing Foreigners with Temporary Residence Permits in Russia - 4 April, 2003

The Russian government has endorsed a list of infectious diseases which are grounds for refusing to issue permits for temporary residence in Russia, the press-service of the government reported.

It said that the list includes lepra /Hansen's disease/, tuberculosis, and also mainly sexually transmitted infections /syphilis, clamidious lymphogranuloma /venereal/, and chancroid.

On the basis of this government decision, foreign citizens and stateless persons who carry the infections mentioned in the list may be refused a permit for temporary residence, a residence permit or a job permit in the Russian Federation. Besides, a temporary residence permit issued to such people earlier may be annulled.
