Book and Exhibition as Birthday Presents to Putin

Presentation of a book The Putins Kin by Alexander Putin, a distant relative to the Russian president, took place in the Russian city of Tver the other day. As it turned out, the president’s family is descending from the Tver region.

The book is the result of collective work where Tver archive scientists contributed greatly.

The Putins Kin is a unique book; it’s not just a biographic survey, it is a deep scientific research devoted to the president’s family. Putin roots have been discovered in the Tver villages of Bordino and Pominovo.

Fadei Putin was the founder of the old peasant kin, who was first mentioned in the records together with his sons in 1719. Vladimir Putin and author of the book, Alexander Putin have a common great-grandfather.

Alexander Putin says he planned to write a book about his family long ago, even before Vladimir Putin was elected president of Russia. He concluded an agreement with the All-Russian Genealogy Association in 1992 which made his work on the book easier. Workers of the Tver regional archives contributed greatly to the book as well.

An exhibition dedicated to the President Putin’s 50th birthday was opened in the Russian city of Tyumen. The exposition  called “My Life as Spread Before the Eyes” was opened in the Tyumen regional scientific library. Organizers of the exhibition say, visitors can see books, articles from newspapers and magazines about the life of the president.

Materials of the exhibition characterize the Russian president the following way: “He is an intellectual with perfect logic which  helps him in the most difficult no-goes. Family, traditions and native land are his main values. Master of sports in judo and unarmed self-defense. Despite apparent adherence to the western culture, Putin has all main features of the Russian national character.”
