Chilean President Ricardo Lagos Escobar to participate in Russian-Chilean business forum in Moscow - 3 October, 2002

President Ricardo Lagos Escobar of Chile and head of the Russian Chamber of Industry and Commerce Yevgeny Primakov will participate in the Russian-Chilean business forum on trade and economic cooperation in Moscow on Thursday. An agreement on cooperation between the Russian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Chilean National Chamber of Commerce will be signed as part of the business forum, said the press service of the Russian chamber.

According to Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Alexander Yakovenko, the volume of Russian-Chilean trade totalled 50.4 million dollars in 2001. In the first six months of 2002 trade totalled 35.9 million dollars.

Russia and Chile have great resources for cooperation in the sphere of aerospace, mining industry, oil production and processing, transport and fishery, the diplomat said.

A large group of Chilean businessmen will arrive in Moscow with Ricardo Lagos. This fact shows Chilean businessmen's growing interest in Russia, Yakovenko stressed.
