Gazprom Appoints Representative to Board of Lithuanian Energy Company Dujotekana - 13 September, 2002

Russian gas company Gazprom has appointed Kirill Seleznev, the head of its department for processing gas and liquid hydrocarbons, as its representative on the board of Lithuanian energy company Dujotekana. According to Dujotekana's president and chairman of the board, Rimandas Stonys, this appointment is one of Gazprom's first steps towards acquiring a controlling stake in the Lithuanian company.

The Lithuanian energy company Dujotekana was founded a year ago, and in December of last year it became a partner of Gazprom. The two sides signed an agreement on supplying Russian gas to Lithuania over the next eleven years. Dujotekana is currently Lithuania's largest importer of natural gas.

Gazprom is taking part in the privatization of the Kaunas power station together with Dujotekana and American company Clement Power Venture.
