The President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov (66 y.o.) is having serious problems with his health. It goes without saying that any information of the state of health of the Turkmen president is hidden from the public eye. Moreover, Turkmen citizens are strictly forbidden to discuss the health of their president, known in the country as Turkmenbashi, or the father of the Turkmen nation. Nevertheless, the “golden age of Turkmenistan” may end until the end of the current year, GZT.ru wrote.
The sources of the newspaper say that the king of Turkmenistan, known for his passion to glorify himself and his political regime, started having heart problems on October 2. Such an affirmation does not sound unlikely indeed. Niyazov received a complicated heart surgery in 1997 at a hospital in Germany. In addition, Turkmen mass media reported that Niyazov had been examined twice during the year after the operation.
The father of all Turkmens was also examined in December of 2005 in Turkmenistan-based International Medical Center. Cardiologist Hans Meisner, the surgeon, who operated Niyazov in Germany, participated in the procedure. Meisner was considered to be the personal doctor of Turkmenbashi. He reportedly moved from Germany to Turkmenistan to observe his client on a regular basis.
Another medical examination occurred in May, although Meisner did not take part in the process. Mr. Meisner’s absence during the latest medical procedure implied that the president of Turkmenistan did not have any serious complaints. Therapist Klaus Parhofer, otolaryngologist Johannes Zenk and orthopedist Rainhard Ignor, who examined Niyazov, said that the president was in an excellent condition. The opposition of Turkmenistan distributed a list of diseases which Saparmurat Niyazov was supposedly suffering from. They included such serious ailments as ischemic heart disease and chronic blood circulation disorder.
