US Builds New Paid Highway in Novgorod Region

The US Trade and Development Agency will build 70 kilometres of paid highway that would straighten a part of Moscow - St. Petersburg highway. As Deputy Novgorod Region Mayor Nikolai Ivankov, the first payment of $100,000 was designated for the project's technical justification, site investigation and potential users' research. The research revealed that many long-distance truck drivers and official vehicle drivers would gladly use the new paid highway. Currently the portion of the highway in question passes through many villages, thus the drivers are obliged to slow down and their travelling time increases.

The project is expected to cost about $600 million.
