Nobel Peace prize-winner for 2002, ex-US President Jimmy Carter criticised the Middle East policy of George Bush on Monday, accusing the American President of abandoning the peace process by treating Palestinians and Israelis with two weights and two measures.
Carter said that the USA today is wholly committed to israel and does not even speak with the Palestinian leaders and added that he did not consider that George Bush has the conditions to get the peace talks back on schedule.
“You have to have the confidence of both sides, you have to act equally with the two sides and we are not doing this”, stated Carter, who fears that 30 years of commitment to peace in the Middle East was for nothing.
