Over 40 000 negatives of Ex-president of the USA John Kennedy were lost during the Sept.11 terror acts at the World Trade Center in New York. The pictures had been taken by a private photographer of the ex-president and were kept in one of the towers destroyed by terrorists. Some of the pictures by Jack Lowe have been published in the world press. These are the photos of a well-known missile crisis about Cuba and pictures of John Kennedy in his office in 1961.
A daughter of the photographer kept the pictures in a safe of JP Morgan Chase bank in the World Trade Center. As a result of the terror acts, over 1 000 of the bank’s safe boxes, including those ones with the negatives, were destroyed. The owner says, the collection was valued at about $2 million, but was not insured. The photographer died in May’2001.
