Moscow "is interested in developing cooperation with Mozambique in many different spheres," said Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov during talks with his Mozambican counterpart Leonardo dos Santos Simao.
The present relations with Mozambique were laid when the country was struggling for independence, the Russian minister said. Moscow "highly appreciates the fact that over these years the relations have remained genuinely friendly," he pointed out. When speaking about the present state of bilateral relations, Ivanov pointed out that there were good opportunities for their developing.
He expressed the hope that the Moscow visit of the Mozambican Foreign Minister would make it possible "to outline exact steps in developing cooperation in all spheres." In his turn, Leonardo dos Santos Simao added that bilateral relations between the two countries had "fairly deep historic links." Russia sided with Mozambique "in good times for our country as well as in difficult ones," he pointed out.
