Argentina destroys Serbia-Montenegro
Rodriguez on 6’, Cambiasso on 31’, Rodriguez on 41’, Hernan Crespo on 78’, the subs Tevez on 84’ and Lionel Messo on 88’.
Nothing more to say. Kezman’s sending off after 65’ did not help the Balkan team but by then everything was lost. A defense that lasted 649 minutes in the qualifying stages without conceding was blasted away like a balsawood plane, crushed by the attacking power of Argentina.
On a nice note, the declaration by the Serbia-Montenegro player Mladen Krstajic: “ It is not a disgrace to lose against a team with this quality, I’ll be the first to congratulate them on their performance”.
Argentina 6 Serbia-Montenegro 0. Pekerman’s dangermen.
Holland 2 Ivory Coast 1
Holland also goes through with these three points. Ivory Coast had a good chance to equalise but...it did not.
Holland scored through Van Persie’s free kick after 23’ and after 27’, Ruud van Nistelrooij added the second. A carbon copy of the Argentina-Ivory Coast game, Ivory Coast scored the 1-2 after 38’, by Bakary Kone.
Both teams had the chance to score in the second half, but the scoreboard remained the same. Ivory Coast leaves the World Cup knowing it could have done better with more luck, but knowing also that its dignified the country.
Mexico 0 Angola 0
Angola’s mission, to leave Germany with the players’ heads held high is not fulfilled, it is surpassed. Angola managed to prove in two ganmes that its players can equal teams in the top ten in FIFA’s classsification. All that is missing is the final touch and if Mantorras was always available...
Now with a win over Iran and a belief that Angola can score a goal, despite defending well and despite arriving in the opponent’s area, it is not impossible that Angola could make the last 16. For this, congratulations to Oliveira Gonçalves, the manager, and congratulations to the whole team – and tonight, a special mention to João Ricardo, the goalkeeper, clubless..but not for long.
