Issues on the agenda include the construction of an oil pipeline from the Romanian Black Sea city of Constanta to Trieste in Italy that would pass through Serbia and relaxing visa restrictions between the two neighboring countries, the president's office said in a statement. Currently citizens of the two neighboring countries need visas to cross the border.
On the Kosovo issue, Basescu has said that the province should be kept within Serbia's borders, and stressed the need for dialogue on the issue, his office said.
Serbia claims Kosovo is the heart of its former kingdom, and the medieval cradle of their statehood, but ethnic Albanian leaders in the province have called for independence, according to the AP.
