George W. Bush to meet Rwanda's President May 31 to discuss AIDS, economic issues

The White House also announced on Thursday that Laura Bush will lead the official U.S. presidential mission to the U.N. General Assembly's high-level meeting on HIV/AIDS being held June 2 in New York.

White House press secretary Tony Snow said Bush and Kagame will discuss Rwanda's participation in the U.S. emergency plan for AIDS relief, economic development, trade and investment and the African Growth and Opportunity Act, the AP reports.

"The leaders will also discuss Rwanda's strides towards reconciliation, democracy and inclusiveness, and the important role of women in advancing these vital objectives," Snow said.

Bush also will recognize Rwanda's work to stabilize the Great Lakes region in the east of the continent and Rwanda's contributions toward achieve peace in Sudan, Snow said.
