Car explodes in Afghanistan’s capital

A car loaded with explosives blew up on a major street in Kabul on Friday, killing the driver and causing minor damage to a nearby military vehicle, police and military officials said. It was not immediately clear if there were any other injuries. Police were investigating the explosion, which occurred in the western part of the city.

The blast was apparently a suicide attack, said Mohammad Yousef, the district's chief of police. He said the driver was killed and at least two other people were injured. Maj. Andrew Elmes, a spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force, said one ISAF vehicle was damaged, but only lightly. He said there were no reports of injuries among military personnel, reports the AP. I.L.
