Two men arrested by British police in suspicion of murder during Birmingham riots

West Midlands police said two men, aged 22 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of murdering 23-year-old Isiah Young-Sam. They were being held in police custody. Riots erupted in Birmingham on Saturday after members of the Afro-Caribbean and South Asian communities held a meeting over the alleged rape of a 14-year-old black girl by an Asian man.

The meeting was partly meant to calm tension and encourage the alleged victim to come forward, the AP reports.

Police said a group of people tried to force their way into a church where the meeting was being held and were prevented from doing so.

The crowd then vandalized shops, and at least one car was set ablaze. Hundreds of riot police were attacked with bricks and bottles, authorities said. Four people were stabbed, including 23-year-old Young-Sam, who died from his injuries, and more than 30 people were hospitalized. A.M.
