French Channel tunnel customs agents seized 135 kilograms (297 pounds) of heroin worth an estimated Ђ3.3 million (US$3.94 million) that came from the Netherlands and was bound for Britain, the government announced Tuesday.
It was French customs' largest heroin seizure this year and equal to almost half of the 350 kilograms (771 pounds) recovered in all of 2004. The drugs were found on Oct. 12 in sports bags aboard a food truck that was boarding a cross-Channel train from Calais, the AP reports. A.M.
