Russian sailing ship Nadezhda rounds Cape Horn

The Russian sailing frigate Nadezhda, which is on its training world cruise, passed Cape Horn last night and entered the Pacific Ocean.

Cape Horn is the most dangerous place for sailors.

However, this time expedition was lucky. The weather in the area of Cape Horn was favorable and the frigate rounded it in full sail.

The Nadezhda started its cruise from Vladivostok on January 25 this year. This world cruise is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the first circumnavigation by Russian sailors under the command of Ivan Krusenstern and Yuri Lisyansky. This year's route is very close to that historic sail.

The frigate has passed already 27,000 miles, and it will have to cover another 13,000 miles to return to its home port of Vladivostok.

Apart from the crew and the naval cadets, a Russian scientific expedition on the frigate is studying ecological problems and the process in the World Ocean.
